The housebuilders behind a 400-home scheme in Ripley have announced the development will open early in the new year as construction work on the first homes gathers pace.

Bellway and Ashberry Homes began building work on two developments off Whiteley Road in August, after securing planning permission for the project from Amber Valley Council.

Bellway is building 264 of the 400 new homes at its Coppice Heights development, while the remaining 136 new homes are being built by Ashberry Homes at Amber Rise.

The first homes at both developments will be released for sale in Spring next year, with the first residents set to move into their homes in Summer 2021.

A mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses will be built for private sale across both sites, while a range of 40 one, two and three-bedroom affordable properties will be provided for local people through rent or shared ownership.

As part of the new developments, a new 27-acre area of public green open space, including a children’s play area at the entrance to the site, will also be created.

Steve Smith, Sales Manager for Bellway East Midlands, said: “Demand for new housing across Derbyshire is extremely high, so the new homes at Coppice Heights will help to supply much-needed quality homes for the local area.

“Coppice Heights has been designed to cater for buyers at all levels of the housing ladder. Our two and three-bedroom homes have been built with first-time buyers and downsizers in mind, while our large four-bedroom houses are ideal for growing families.

“With groundworks for the development now in place, we are busy building the first homes here to give visitors a better understanding of what life at Coppice Heights will be like. Interest in the development is already high and we’re looking forward to welcoming the first people on site in 2021.”

Heidi Higgins, Sales Manager for Ashberry Homes East Midlands, said: “With the collection of homes we are building here, we’re expecting a diverse range of interested buyers.

“The development benefits from a fantastic location. There are several well-regarded schools including The Ripley Academy within walking distance of Amber Rise while commuters will benefit from the easy access to the A38, A610 and Derby city centre.

“With the combination of quality new homes and green open space, we are confident that our new development will be a welcome addition to Ripley.”
