J Tomlinson wrapped up National Apprenticeship Week on a high after being announced Large Employer of the Year at RNN Training’s annual apprenticeship employer awards.

The building, maintenance and refurbishment services company, which works across the Midlands, Yorkshire, Northern and Central England, was announced a winner in testament to its continued commitment to developing and upskilling its people, helping them to realise their potential.

J Tomlinson has worked with RNN Training (or Group) for over six years after initially partnering with the training specialist to support work experience opportunities for students in the Worksop area. Since then the two forward-thinking organisations have worked together to support the future generation of young professionals, as well as developing the skills of existing employees, with a number of J Tomlinson staff currently undertaking qualifications from Level 2 and beyond.

The company was commended by RNN Training for its efficient and effective approach in managing the transition from face-to-face learning to online learning in response to changing regulations as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The awards took place on Monday 15th February via a virtual ceremony, and the accolade was accepted by Tomlinson’s People department, who commented:

“It is with great pride that we accept this Apprenticeship Award for 2021 in recognition of the partnership between J Tomlinson and RNN in supporting people making the transition from school and study into the world of work.

“As with most businesses, the pandemic of 2020 had a major impact on our ability to continue to deliver apprenticeships in the way they had historically been. Working with RNN, we were able to look at alternative solutions to ensure individuals were able to continue with their learning, and that both the college and J Tomlinson could continue to support them on their growth journey.

“We apprenticeships as a key solution to assist people from all academic backgrounds gain new skills whilst learning on the job at the same time as supporting our business with an effective way of introducing and developing new talent both from new recruits or upskilling our current workforce in line with our business strategy.”

As well as apprenticeships, RNN Training specialise in facilitating traineeships, work placements as well as other bespoke training solutions, providing an individual-centric service to organisations of all sizes and specialties – from small family businesses through to NHS Trusts, not-for-profit organisations and large national organisations.

Simon Hartley, Senior Skills Consultant at RNN Group, commented: “This year, more so than any other, the efforts and dedication of employers of apprentices deserve to be recognised. On behalf of everyone at RNN Training, as well as the individuals that have benefitted from the support they’ve received as a result of the partnership between our two organisations, we would like to extend a huge congratulations to J Tomlinson on their recent success at our annual awards.”
