Matt Simpson is taking the plunge into self-employment having relaunched professional oven cleaning service Ovenu Nottingham South.
The 39-year-old, who has spent more than two decades in the hospitality and leisure sector managing gyms and swimming pools, is now realising his long-held ambition to become his own boss.
Matt says that the move is driven as much by lifestyle as by business, giving him the freedom to manage his own diary, improve his work-life balance, and enjoy more quality time with his family.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to take control of both my career and life, and this is the perfect opportunity. I have many transferable skills, particularly in customer service, attention to detail, and work ethic – all of which I believe will help me deliver a first-class service and build a successful business.”
The franchise had fallen dormant since the retirement of previous franchisee Peter Bell around four years ago, and Matt is eager to re-establish it.
“I’m looking forward to rebuilding a loyal client base,” added Matt, who is from the city. “Once I’ve achieved that, my ambition is to expand the business by taking on additional oven technicians.”
In his spare time, Matt is an active member of a local cycling club.

The Ovenu process involves dismantling key oven components – such as doors, interior panels, fans, and shelves – and cleaning them in design-registered tank equipment using safe, non-caustic, and biodegradable products. The service leaves ovens in near showroom condition and also covers hobs, extractor hoods, microwaves, and range cookers
Ovenu Nottingham South covers the NG11 and NG12 postcodes, which include West Bridgeford, Clifton, Ruddington, East Leake, Kinoulton, Keyworth, Kingston on Soar, Newton, and Radcliffe on Trent.
