After looking to move away from London to find a more manageable home, a solo homebuyer sought sustainability with David Wilson Homes at its Beaumont at Warwick Gates development in Warwick.
Nicola Anson (61), a Finance Director, had previously lived in Twickenham with her two sons before seeking to relocate. With the money gained from the sale of her former property, Nicola was able to purchase her brand new home at the Heathcote community, as well as a bungalow to adapt for her youngest son to live in who has a chronic illness.
There were several factors behind Nicola’s move to the Vickers Way development, including wanting a home that is more sustainable and energy efficient.
As a trustee of a recycling scheme, the idea of greener living hugely appealed to Nicola. She said: “There were several reasons behind my move – giving my son his independence, cutting down on DIY and gardening jobs, wishing to live in a university town – but one of the most important factors was to have a more sustainable home.
“Since moving in I have already seen my energy bills plummet by £90 per month – a huge change! The home is very light and airy, I love the large kitchen that opens onto the garden and I can see myself spending a lot of my time there.”
According to The Guardian, UK residents are set to face a potentially record-breaking 54% increase to their energy bills, meaning that existing annual bills of £1,300 could now be eclipsing £2,000 instead.
Nicola’s move to Warwick comes on the back of a recommendation from her sister. After initially looking at older properties, her sister had suggested that she look towards new build homes instead, which is when Nicola took a liking to the Beaumont at Warwick Gates development.
She continued: “I knew that David Wilson Homes was a reputable builder, and when I began looking into the homes available I found that they were more sustainable, energy efficient and often had plenty of green space nearby.
