Based on publicly available evidence, it is safe to say that AUTODOC is trustworthy. AUTODOC is an established online retailer founded in Berlin in 2008. It publishes its return and delivery terms via a dedicated Help Centre site, specifies secure payment methods, and holds a 4.1 out of 5 TrustScore with over 19,000 reviews on Trustpilot’s UK page*.

Rather than relying on a single rating, trust in an online parts retailer is based on a number of concrete criteria. This article first sets out these criteria, and then demonstrates how AUTODOC handles each one: choosing parts, delivery, returns and support. It also compares AUTODOC’s customer ratings with those of two other UK parts retailers.

What to look for in a trustworthy online parts shop

  • A named company with a listed address. The legal entity behind the shop, its registered address and contact details should be easy to find.
  • A way to match parts to your specific vehicle. Good shopping platforms allow you to search for matching products by the vehicle’s make, model, engine and year, or the registration number or VIN where possible. The shop’s product listings should also include compatible OE numbers (the carmaker’s original reference numbers) so that you can compare them with the old part.
  • Clear brand and part information. Listings should include the manufacturer and item number, not just a generic description.
  • A published return policy. Conditions related to the return period, as well as who pays for return shipping and what is excluded should be visible and accessible before you place an order.
  • Realistic delivery information. Look for expected delivery times, the countries the shop delivers to, and whether there is a tracking process.
  • Reachable support. The opening hours for customer support should be stated somewhere on the website. There should be a live channel to contact the support team and technical advice for product compatibility questions.
  • Recognised payment methods. The shop should offer a variety of secure payment options, such as payment via credit or debit cards and PayPal rather than bank transfers alone.
  • Independent reviews. Ratings on third-party platforms are most useful for spotting patterns, such as recurring complaints. It is also important to see how the company handles them.

AUTODOC: about the company

According to AUTODOC’s UK blog (updated 20 May 2026) and its official Reddit account, u/autodoc-official, the company was founded in Berlin in 2008 and has operated as Autodoc SE, a European corporation, since November 2022. In 2025, it processed 18.9 million orders for 9.3 million active customers across 27 European countries.

The catalogue currently holds about 7.8 million spare parts from roughly 2,700 manufacturers. Popular listed brands include Bosch, Brembo, ATE, Sachs, Valeo and NGK, alongside AUTODOC’s own brand, RIDEX.

AUTODOC staff have described quality checks that include comparing a part’s weight with the original unit and verifying codes against manufacturer databases, and they say critical components such as turbochargers, injectors and high-pressure fuel pumps come from certified partners.

How AUTODOC’s rating compares

Independent reviews are one of the few criteria that can be compared across retailers directly. The table below shows the TrustScore displayed on Trustpilot for three UK car parts retailers in October 2026.

Retailer Trustpilot TrustScore Number of reviews
AUTODOC (Great Britain) 4.1 out of 5 Over 19,000
Euro Car Parts 3.8 out of 5 Over 32,000
GSF Car Parts 3.6 out of 5 About 12,000

In this case, AUTODOC’s score is higher than both. However, the comparison is limited to one metric. A TrustScore reflects the reviews a company has received, rather than describing any individual order. The three retailers also differ in terms of the number of reviews they have received.

Their business models are also different. Euro Car Parts states on its Trustpilot profile that it has over 250 branches across the UK with free Click & Collect services. AUTODOC delivers by courier only and does not offer the option to pick up orders from its warehouse.

A buyer who wants to collect a part in person will find a branch network suits them better, while a buyer who is happy with home delivery and wants a wide catalogue and detailed search tools may prefer AUTODOC’s approach.

On Trustpilot, AUTODOC UK reviews include both positive and critical experiences. Returns and part compatibility are among the topics critics raise.

How customers select parts

According to AUTODOC, the most common concern when ordering car parts online is the compatibility and fit of parts. Within a single model line, different engine variants, build years, production facilities, and trim levels can require different parts with their own OEM numbers. Each article in the online catalogue is linked to specific vehicle configurations rather than to a model name alone.

AUTODOC’s Help Centre describes four main ways to find a matching part:

  • Using the vehicle selector. Choose the vehicle make, model, engine type, and production year. The platform’s “My Garage” feature lets you save your vehicle to your personal profile.
  • Registration number search. Available in the UK. The system reads the vehicle’s data and opens the catalogue as the selector would. Further clarification may still be needed. The product description should be compared with the part already installed on the vehicle.
  • Using the OEM number. If the OEM number of the part originally installed in your car matches the OEM number of the product, AUTODOC states that it will fit. The number appears under the article number and in the “OE number” tab of the product description.
  • The live chat. If you contact customer support via the live chat, they may be able to provide more advice on selecting suitable parts for your specific vehicle. You may be asked to provide information, such as the VIN, for detailed compatibility results.

The Help Centre is clear about the limitations of the search functions. Results on the website do not guarantee absolute compatibility because a required part may be manufactured in several different variations. AUTODOC recommends verifying a part’s compatibility before installing it, particularly when professional labour is involved.

When the right part still doesn’t work: part pairing

Alexandru Lazariuc is a Technical Specialist in Auto Parts Selection at AUTODOC with over 12 years of experience in the automotive industry. He recently described a case on LinkedIn in which a driver bought a headlight with the correct part number and specifications, and, in his words, “the car simply refused to recognise it.”

He attributes this to part pairing. According to him, this involves manufacturers linking a component to a specific vehicle using software. Consequently, a replacement part may not function properly until it is authorised via a proprietary tool, which he says is usually only available through an official dealer. He claims that this practice initially applied to items such as infotainment modules and battery packs, but is now being extended to parts such as headlights, bumpers with embedded sensors, and some trim pieces.

Lazariuc acknowledges that manufacturers cite security, calibration accuracy, and the protection of safety-related sensor networks as reasons for this, and he accepts that some of these arguments are legitimate. However, he believes that requiring VIN-level authentication for a basic light housing seems excessive.

For buyers, the practical takeaway is that a catalogue filter can confirm whether a part matches a vehicle configuration, but it cannot address software authorisation. For recent vehicles with software-linked components, it is worth contacting the live chat team for information about the specific part.

Delivery

AUTODOC’s Help Centre page states an estimated delivery time of 3 to 4 business days for the United Kingdom and 7 to 9 business days for Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Processing starts as soon as the payment reaches AUTODOC’s account, so the choice of payment method can affect the timing. Delivery is not available on public holidays.

Other delivery conditions specified by AUTODOC:

  • Goods are delivered by courier only, and it is not possible to organise a self-pickup from the warehouse.
  • The customer cannot select the courier. AUTODOC selects the most suitable one, and Evri is listed among its delivery partners.
  • A tracking email is sent when the order is handed to the courier. If an order is split into several parcels, the email should contain several tracking numbers.
  • Common reasons for delays include weekends, technical issues on the courier’s side, bank holidays and adverse weather.
  • Uncollected parcels are sent back to AUTODOC. A refund is made after the items have been received and inspected.

Returns

Item type Deadline stated by AUTODOC
Standard items 14 days from delivery
Tyres and rims 14 days from delivery
Core parts 12 months from delivery
Warranty claims 24 months from delivery

The Safe Order option extends the return period to up to 200 days with free return shipping. This is a paid add-on, which must be added to the order at the checkout. The conditions of the Safe Order service as listed online:

  • It is only valid for one return per order.
  • It only applies to products sold by AUTODOC, not by third-party sellers on the AUTODOC Marketplace.
  • Returned parts must be unused, undamaged, and not show any signs of installation. The items must also be returned in their original packaging with the invoice enclosed.
  • This option does not apply to bulky items, old core exchange parts, or tyres.

Returns are requested via the Returns portal, which can be found by clicking on ‘Returns and support’ at the bottom of the homepage or via the live chat. When an item does not need to be sent back, AUTODOC states that the refund is issued within 1 to 2 business days. The time it takes to reach the customer depends on the payment method or bank’s own processing times.

So, is AUTODOC trustworthy?

Considering the above criteria, AUTODOC meets most of them quite clearly. It is a well-established company with a physical address in Berlin, offering several search options and live technical support. It also publishes detailed information on delivery times, return deadlines and Safe Order conditions.

On the one hand, it hasTrustpilot UK page rating of 4.1 out of 5, which is higher than the scores shown for Euro Car Parts and GSF Car Parts. However, a branch network offers something that a courier-only model does not: the option to collect parts in person.

When ordering car parts, buyers should bear in mind that a website search does not guarantee compatibility, fitting costs are not covered by returns, and parts pairing is a separate issue for newer vehicles. However, these points apply to ordering car parts online in general, not to one retailer alone. You can browse the range at autodoc.co.uk.
